Belinda Ann Kent was born February 12, 1962, in Hattiesburg, MS. to Mrs. Mary Nell Jones & Roscoe Miller. Belinda attended High School at Blaire High School and graduated in 1980. She then, pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Southern Mississippi, from 1981-1985, majoring in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology. She was a member of the Rho Chi Honor Society.
Belinda moved to Houston, Texas in 1985, where she worked as a Medical Technologist for many years, but was driven to pursue higher education and greater professional accomplishments. Belinda entered the Texas Southern University Pharmacy program in 1988 and completed her degree as a pharmacist in 1991. After working in the retail, clinical and hospital setting she once again set her goals on attaining a higher professional level. Belinda completed the Master of Business Administration program in 2011 at the Texas Women's University. While there she was a member of the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society. Belinda flourished in her medical career path as it was a testament to her desire and love of helping and caring for others.
In 1997, Belinda married Tommy Lee Johnson III, from this union was born Haley Dion Johnson. Of all of her greatest accomplishments, becoming a mom was her greatest joy. Belinda was a devoted and loving mother.
Belinda accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at East Pine A.M.E in Hattiesburg, MS and became a member of Windsor United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell. She became an active member of the corporate prayer ministry. Her main hobbies were dancing, cooking, and gardening. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and New Year's Eve. She would celebrate these holidays with family, friends, sharing her southern cuisine and love.
Belinda is preceded in death by her Father, (Roscoe Miller); Mother (Mary Nell Jones); Her siblings (Patricia, Johnny, Fredrick, and Charles). She leaves to cherish her memory and legacy her daughter Haley Johnson of Houston, Texas; sister Cynthia Bell of Stafford, Texas; and brother, Ray Kent of Houston, Texas. She will be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.
