On July 18, 1942, in Fulshear, Texas, the world was blessed with the birth of Betty Clark-Munks, lovingly known as Sister Betty. She was the cherished daughter of M.E. Clark and Alice Green Clark and the youngest of eight siblings—five sisters and three brothers. Sister Betty attended Booker T. Washington High School, where she shined as a majorette. She continued her education at trade schools, always striving for personal growth. Throughout her life, she was deeply committed to serving her community. A significant chapter of her journey was her involvement in the Black Muslim Movement from 1967 to 1969, reflecting her passion for justice and equality. Sister Betty's unwavering faith and spirituality were central to her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. Betty taught her children the importance of advocacy, wise decision-making, hard work, and caring for others. She possessed a calm and peaceful spirit, embodying the essence of motherhood. She cherished holidays, family gatherings, and Sunday dinners, bringing warmth and love to every occasion. Betty instilled in her family the value of staying positive, understanding "who you are" and "where you come from," and upholding strong family values. She found great joy in cooking and baking, often preparing elaborate meals that nourished both the body and soul. Her loving demeanor ensured everyone felt her undivided attention. People naturally gravitated toward her for her wisdom, guidance, and heartfelt advice. Over the course of her life, she formed countless friendships and left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Sister Betty leaves behind her beloved son, Vincent Clark; daughter, Alice Fulton (Greg); Evatrus Scott, whom she embraced as her son; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Najmah and Lois, and a granddaughter, Layla. Betty's legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of everyone privileged to have known her.
