Carol Ann Williams Runnels 78 years of age, passed on Tuesday, April 2,
2024, at home in Houston, Texas with her family.
Carol was born on November 27, 1945, in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania to
the late Fitzure Emmanuel Williams and Eva Irene Wilson Williams. She was one
of 12 children. Seven siblings preceded her in death as well as two of her sons –
George Williams Derry III and Richard Allen Derry. Carol was educated in Mount
Pleasant, Pennsylvania, and later received her License in Vocational Nursing from
Bee County College in Kingsville Texas.
Carol married the late Tommie Runnels in 2005. Carol also married the late
George Williams Derry in 1962 and four children were born from this union.
Carol surrendered her life to CHRIST JESUS and was an active member of Our
LORD's Church where she held the position of the church secretary. Carol was
also a lifetime member of Second Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania.
She loved working in the church and Praising The LORD and giving HIM all the
Glory and Honor.
Carol worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for 30 years and she loved
working with the geriatric population. Among her nursing peers, she was known
as the "IV Queen." It was said Carol could start an IV with her eyes closed and
from across the room.
Those who knew Carol would say that she did not have an unkind word to
say about another person. She truly lived by the fruits of the Spirit found in
Galatians 5:22-23. Carol loved to pray for others, spend time with her family,
laugh heartily, and always wear a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring
devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Carol leaves to cherish her loving memory to her children and those who
called her Mom. Roberta (Bobbi) Jo Cloyd (Houston, Texas), Vaughn Pierre Derry
(Eugene, Oregon), Maurice Stokes (Compton, California), Curtis Stokes
(Washington D.C.), Jerome Smith (Dallas, Texas), Virginia Gordon (Birmingham,
Alabama). She also leaves to cherish her loving memory to her sister and brothers,
Beverly Ann Williams (Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania), William (Billy) and
(Deborah) Williams (Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania), Richard (Pat) Williams
(Norristown, Pennsylvania), Robert (Bobby) Williams (Norristown, Pennsylvania),

and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends.
