Charles "Corkey" David Hall, Jr. Obituary

Corkey was born in San Francisco, CA on July 20, 1942.  He passed peacefully at home on February 8, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Corkey is survived by his wife, Marti Hite Hall, daughter, Kathy Hall Mathiason, husband Joel Mathiason and granddaughter, Kate Hebert; daughter RayeAnn Hall Clark and grandson, Chad Clark; his sister, Saundra Thompson, and her husband Charles and their children Darlene Houpt, Jo Gosselin, Charlie Houpt, Douglas Thompson and their families; his youngest brother, David Hall and wife Dawn.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Sonny Hall and many loving friends.

Corkey served honorably in the U.S. Navy as an Engineman (EN) and shared multiple stories about his travels and experiences during the time that he served.  He was particularly proud of his "Golden Shellback" distinction.

Corkey spent his career in the pipe sales industry.  He liked to share stories of how they entertained clients during the oil-rich period of the 1970's and '80's in Houston, TX.

Corkey and Marti were married in September of 1991 and lived in Houston, Texas.  They  spent most of their time with friends and family at their Bay house in Galveston or different hunting leases through their years together. In 2007, they retired to the lake on Toledo Bend in Huxley, TX.  They developed a tight knit 'lake family' who surrounded and supported Corkey in his last days.

Those of you who knew Corkey know that he loved to cook and was always the chef at the bay house and on hunting weekends. Frying fish and smoking meat on the smoker were his specialties.

Corkey loved to share his stories about his travels, and his friends and family.  He would often break into a song just by hearing a single word!  He could quote Shakespear and poems by heart and would have the perfect limerick for most any occasion; always delivered with his patented, charming grin.  He was a man of few words, but what he said was sincere.

May he Rest in Peace and know that he is loved and missed by many!
