Obituary

Dear Constunterry, we find ourselves at a loss for words as we attempt to capture the essence of your life and the depth of our love for you. On Oct. 12, 2023, at age 64, you embarked on the ultimate journey, leaving behind an unbelievable void that can never be filled, especially in Uptown New Orleans and Brenham, Texas, two places you called home and left your undeniable presence. Your peaceful passing has brought forth an array of precious memories for your children, grandchildren, siblings, friends, and anyone blessed to have experienced your effervescence and magnetic personality. You lived this life to the fullest. You imparted wisdom on so many during your years on Earth. You mentored a tremendous amount of youth, through sports programs, providing a strong model for many who were motherless. You were so unselfish and selfless, to those who earned the rights to your unwavering love. You lived to support your children and grandchildren in all of their diverse dreams and endeavors, teaching them to have an empowering and bold confidence, that will spark the places, in which they dwell. You gave back to God through your commitment to the church, exemplifying the unique characteristics of a teacher, counselor and advisor, to man by being authentic about the countless ways God had showed up and out in your life. You are irreplaceable, Constunterry, and your family will continue to honor and celebrate you in the years ahead. We have received an outpouring of condolences and support from friends and family, a testament to the lives you've touched. Their kind words and shared memories only reinforce what we already knew - that you were a remarkable person. They call you by many names: Constance, Connie Jo, Connie, Mama, and no matter what role you played in their lives the sentiments were consistent, you left an incomparable mark, that will never be forgotten. We are comforted in knowing that you were greeted at the pearly gates by your beloved family members: Ashlee Brumfield, Hollis Brumfield, and Warren Purvis Brumfield, who have gone before you. In their presence, may you find eternal peace.

You leave to cherish your memory and continue your legacy of impact, your loving children Tuere, Charmine (Maurice Anderson), Darrell (Aunna Johnson), and Brittany (Harlan Victor); your grandchildren, Kenneth, Kennedi, Cristian Battista, Darrell Johnson Jr. Michael Johnson, Daiaunna Johnson, Carlos Johnson, Xavier& Czarice ANDERSON, mother Mattie Wells, siblings Curtis (Tracy) Wells, Randy (Nelda )Wells, Roxanne (Anthony) Dixon and a host of nieces,  nephews, and cherished friends.

As we gather to celebrate your life with family and friends on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at St. John AME Church, 1012 E. Main Street, Brenham, Texas, we will carry your spirit in our hearts. Memorial Service will begin at 10 a.m. and a Repast will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Cannery Kitchen, 314 E. Alamo Drive, Brenham, Texas.
