Obituary

Sister Dorothy Lee Harris was born on March 14,1949 to the loving parents of Abe and Almeatia Harris Jr. in Wisner, Louisiana. Sister Harris was raised on a farm, attended school, and went on to college at Grambling State University.

Following her time at Grambling State University, Sister Harris worked at Methodist Hospital before becoming a full time employee of the United States Postal Service in November of 1974 before retiring in January of 2005. During her time with the Postal Service she became close friends with a host of employees such as Lois, Debra, Rose, Shirley, Linda, Yvonne, Dembra, and Celana. All of whom spent valuable time with Sister Harris. Sister Harris later returned to world of employment, after realizing the boredom of retirement and began working with Mrs. Ivy and her husband Chris at Tax Biz and later moved on to work with their youth academy call A Step Above til 2019 due to the COVID Pandemic.

On April 2, 2006 Dorothy Lee Harris became Sister Harris when she redidcatated her life to the further joys of Christian Life and became a member of Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor R. Mouton. Since the death of Pastor Mouton, Christian Faith has been under the pastoral leadership of the appointed pastor, Bishop Pastor Corey S. Wilson in 2012.

Sister Harris leaves to mourn her son, Donzell and his wife, Sharlae Harris. Seven grandsons, Kevin, Darian (Destiny), JuJuan, Tyree, Eric Jr. (Madison), Elijah, and Kahreece. In addition to her newly grown family, Sister Harris became a proud and sensational great-grandmother to Kingston William Osby.

Sister Harris also leaves to mourn two sisters, Sandra (Frank) and Alma. Mourning with their sisters and nephews are brothers  Matthew (Carolyn), Lester (Sherri), Ronnie (Daisy), James (Linda), and recently widowed Gloria (Nathaniel) and Allison (Terrance). As well as host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Preceding Sister Harris in death are her sisters Edna, Thelma, and Ora. Brothers Nathaniel, Lawrence, and Terrance.
