Obituary

With profound love and cherished memories, we honor the life of Evelyn Jean Jacquot, a devoted daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Born on July 2, 1956, to Willard and Irma Jacquot (née Jackson), Evelyn brought warmth and joy to all who knew her.

Evelyn was educated in the North Forest ISD school district, attending Hilliard Elementary and graduating from Forest Brook High School with the Class of 1974. She attended the University of Houston before devoting much of her life to caring for her parents, supporting her daughter, and preserving her family's legacy.

Faith was the foundation of Evelyn's life. She was baptized while attending Lyons Unity Baptist Church with her family. Later, she became a devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Sealy, Texas, where she lovingly designed programs for weekly services and special events. Eventually, she transferred her membership to Windsor Village UMC, where—even during her illness—she remained a faithful believer and supporter.

Evelyn worked alongside her father in various businesses, including Bingo Halls, MLK Gulf "the station," and U-Haul Rentals. She also worked as a driver, serving the elderly and disabled, always finding ways to care for those in need. Through her dedication and sacrifice, she played an instrumental role in her father's mission to provide resources and opportunities to underserved communities as both an entrepreneur and deacon. Her unwavering commitment—working long shifts, managing responsibilities, and stepping in wherever needed—was vital to the family's legacy. However, Evelyn's greatest joy and proudest title was being a mother.

Evelyn loved road trips, embracing the open road with a spirit of adventure. She traveled to many states, including Hawaii, and even took a cruise—despite once saying she never would. She also found joy in playing bingo, a pastime that brought her both excitement and cherished moments.

She leaves to cherish her memory a beloved daughter, whom she called her "only baby in the whole wide world," Jeanicia Elder, and her son-in-law, Gregory Elder, whom she embraced as her own "son from another mother." She is also survived by her brothers Michael Jacquot and Gerald Jerome Jacquot (Jenyce), her cherished uncles Thomas Jackson and Wilson "Buddy" Jacquot, along with her treasured nieces, nephews, and extended family, including Shundra Denae, Marcus Caine (Delores), Carlon Christopher (Ty), Tiffany Michelle (Anthony), Felix Michael, Samantha Irma (Jacob), Samaura Rochelle.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cynthia Julia Jackson (née Tyson), Sylvester Jackson Sr., Wilson Jacquot, Celestine Jacquot (née Randle), her mother Irma, her father Willard, and her siblings Willard Jr., Ronald Willard, Laura Joan, and Esther Pearl.

Evelyn's life was one of joyous service, faithfulness, and love. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the warmth she shared, the sacrifices she made, the unwavering devotion she showed; and how she loved. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In honor of Evelyn and her vibrant spirit, the family asks that everyone wear bright, joyful patterns—florals, abstract designs, or geometric prints. She loved color and creativity, and we want to celebrate her life in a way that reflects her light. Please join us in making this a beautiful tribute to her.
