Herbert
Onezine
Dec 14, 1941 — Sep 23, 2025
Herbert Onezine, 83, of Houston, Texas, answered the call of the Lord and entered eternal rest on September 23, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 14, 1941, in Lafayette, Louisiana. A true jack of many trades, Herbert found joy in working with his hands and was a gifted welder with Nailor Industries for more than 22 years. He was an ordained Deacon, lovingly known as "Deacon Sweetness" and beyond his craft, he was known for his playful spirit and love of fellowship—whether defending his pool championship, playing dominoes, savoring a good bowl of gumbo, or in his latter years spending quiet afternoons in his backyard feeding his beloved "friends," the squirrels.
Herbert's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Edith Boyd-Onezine; his sons, Alvin Onezine (Gervasia), Daryl (CJ) Rice, Anthony Rice and Donald Onezine; his daughters, Sheila Nolan (Travis), Ellen Washington (Cornelius), Jarisha Onezine, Narisha Killebrew (Disjorn), and Nakisha Brite (Stephen); his aunt, Lucille; his spiritual children, Dwayne and Marsha Parker, Elder Shawn Gibson his loving care aid; and a beautiful legacy of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and countless friends who became family. We find comfort knowing he is resting in a place of glory.
"And this is the promise that he promised us—eternal life."
