Sis. Jacqueline Marie Hall
"Jacquie" was born to Hattie Bell Nelms and Alvin "Joe" Baker, Sr. in Navasota, TX on April 28, 1951; which was a beautiful morning. She was raised in a home with strong Christian values and morals. Jacquie accepted Christ at a young age and became a member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of her grandfather Pastor Benjamin Hall, Sr., where she remained faithful. She was valedictorian at George Washington Carver Jr. High School in Navasota,TX. In 1969, she graduated being one of the top 10 students at Navasota High School and she was a member of the Student Council. She received her higher education at Prairie View A&M University. She was a member of the Delta Alpha Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. On November 30, 1972, she was a candidate for the Prairie View Campus Beauties and Foxes, voted as one of the PVAMU Beauty and Stylish, and member of PVAMU student government. Once she obtained her Bachelor's Degree, she was employed at PVAMU for over 25 years and held numerous titles. She became Assistant Director of Auxiliary Services and she developed I.D. cards for multiple purposes (dining, washing, medical, library, bookstore, parking, athletic events, concerts, medical, entertainment, and the police department). She worked in the Athletics Department. There, she would travel a day before to get the events set up along with ticket sales and secure permit information with the Chamber of Commerce. Jacquie was responsible for setting up pre-events and post-events. She coordinated press conferences in each particular City c/o Al Wash Entertainment pregame and postgame Hall of Fame Balls, etc. She was the manager of Farrell Hall (Laundry) for 5 years. Jacquie was secretary to the vice president of the engineering department (mechanical; electrical; metallurgical) and coordinated quality assurance at Tubular Finishing Works. Lastly, she was the Campaign manager for Frank Jackson and presented the trophy at a TSU and PVAMU Labor Day classic game. Jacquie was also employed at Navasota ISD in her earlier years, where she taught music and typing to many youth and adults for three years. She was a testing instructor for English & Math teams, worked with special needs students with Mr. Sauls, and was a makeup artist for NHS prom participants.
Jacquie believed in serving God. She held the following offices/performed these duties: Choir Member (Jr/Senior); Adult Musician; Sunbeam Musician and assistant coordinator; Sunday School Secretary; Family Group Musician for Rev. J.W. Whitfield; Mission Discussion Assistant Leader - twice; Youth representative in Conroe,TX (debating; etc.); Sunday School Congress - Musician (Missionary Camp; St. Martinsville); Greater New Hope Baptist Church and BTU-Baptist Training Unit member and secretary; Church Musician (Little Flock, Green Valley, St. Holland, Truevine, Robinson Hill, Mt. Pleasant, Progressive B.C. Hempstead, TX, St. Luke B.C. Hempstead/Navasota, TX, and Rose Hill). She was a member of the Community Choir (Lee Tabernacle Methodist Church and Friendship). At Greater New Hope: Assistant Finance Committee - wrapping change, vacation bible teacher, birthday committee leader, food pantry, clothes closet, deliverer to the sick and shut-in, Java-4- Jesus volunteer, church history orator,
welcome responder, and funeral resolutions clerk. Jacquie was even a community volunteer, a member of the Democratic Committee in Grimes County and Houston George R. Brown Convention Center, a Democratic Representative for Grimes County with the Presidential election campaign for Jesse Jackson, Navasota campaign manager for Woodrow Jackson who won election, Beams Major member of the Grimes County committee along with Mrs. Annie Dean Johnson & Mrs. Dorothy Jackson (to educate & assist the elderly and young adults with the importance of voting, provided transportation to and from voting precinct), Representative for Navasota and Austin – George Washington Carver Home Economics in the State Wool Competition – won 2nd place.
Jacquie had a beautiful smile that could melt anyone's heart. She extremely loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, grand pups, and extended family. She was always willing to help. She departed this physical life to begin her Heavenly life - Sunday, June 26, 2022. She was preceded in death by her son: Shaun Frazier, Sr.; sisters: Ora Baker and Florida Mae Bennett; grandparents: Pastor Benjamin & Edna Mae Hall; fathers: Horace Nelms, Jr. and Alvin "Joe" Baker, Sr.; Aunt: Margaret Hall; Uncle: Benjamin Hall, Jr.
She leaves unforgettable memories and everlasting love with her daughters: Taifiah Jones- Ford (DeUndra, Sr.) of Houston, TX; Ashia Jones Blackshear (Keith) of Spring, TX; Raven King Sims (Richard) of Bryan, TX; Daughter-In-Law: Katyna Frazier; Daughter-In-Love: Regina Claridy; Goddaughter: LaTasha N. Smith. Mother: Hattie B. Nelms. Grandchildren: Deondra, Amber, Shaun Jr., Shamarr, Dhi'Raj, Victor, DonTavian, DeUndra Jr., Richard, DeUndrea, KeySay'Veon, Lexci, TreDarius, Triniti, Jairdain, An'fforny, Ja'Merious, Richlyn, and Jasmine Hammond. Sisters: Barbara, Pamela, and Patricia Nelms, Cinderella Baker, Lucille Gibson, Elizabeth Peterson, Brenda Gilbert, Sandra Searcy, Cresia and Sharon Howard. Brothers: Alvin Baker, Jr., Dr. Steve W. Hall, Sr., Howard, Timothy, and Ricky Baker; Jim, Kenneth Sr., and Nicky Nelms. Greatgrand Pups: Taz, Lov, and Riley Jefferson; MeMaw Sims; Dash Ford; Harley West. A Special Friend: Robert Willis, Aunt: Honey Lee (Reedy), a host of Special Nieces, Special Nephews, Cousins, Extended Relatives, Previous Co-Workers, and a host of friends.
