Jalen was born on January 23, 1998, in Flint, Michigan. He was the son of James Collins IV and Tasha Harvey. He grew up in Spring, Texas, where he graduated from Klein Oak High School. Jalen proudly and honorably served in the United States Air Force as an F-15E Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist, Journeyman, and Fuels Technician, ensuring the combat readiness of F-15 fighter jets and attack planes, first on Active Duty as F-15 Crew Chief in North Las Vegas, NV (Honorably Discharged) and most recently in the Reserves in San Antonio, TX, and achieved the Air Force rank of Senior Airman (E-4; SrA). Jalen received his Associate of Applied Science degree with Honors from the Community College of The Air Force in Montgomery, AL. He completed extensive military training and education including, but not limited to, Air Force Basic Military Training (June 2019) and F-15 Tactical Aircraft Maintenance (Pipeline Continuation, November 2019; Hydraulic, September 2020; and Engine Starting Systems, October 2020). Notable among the many Federal Awards Jalen received during his military service include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air and Space Outstanding Unit Award, Air and Space Training Ribbon, Tech School Class Leader, Class Knuckle Buster Award, Striker of the Month, 422 Operational Test & Evaluation Selected Representative (lauded by NSA Director/AMU's DCC), Awarded Top Performer WS 20-A (selected as Assistant Dedicated Crew Chief 96-0200, SrA Below-the-Zone Winner), and achieved CCAF Aviation Maintenance Tech while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

He was very active and adamant about fitness and his physical health. He was very disciplined as he worked out faithfully at the gym with daily exercise and weightlifting regimens. His pursuit of living a fit life often rubbed off on others around him and he was called on by many to share his style and techniques, which resulted in him working closely with family and friends to accomplish their own fitness goals. He had recently started down the path of formalizing his dreams of becoming a certified physical trainer with the ultimate goal of opening his own gym.

Throughout his lifetime, Jalen experienced a variety of environments, people, and cultures. If you knew Jalen personally, then you would know that he "Never Met a Stranger." His heart of openness and acceptance was his superpower. He was mild-mannered and known for his infectious smile, that undoubtedly "lit up" any room he was in. He was a natural born protector and motivator. Truly, within his circle of influence, "there was no man or woman left behind."  He genuinely had a passion for helping others succeed and provided support to those in need. He enjoyed spending time with friends, online gaming, and riding his motorcycle. Family was very important to Jalen, he spent significant amounts of time with his sisters joking around, having dancing and singing contests, as well as helping with homework, finetuning volleyball techniques, and giving the kinds of advice that only a big brother can. Additionally, he continued to grow tight bonds with his brothers and developed overlapping goals for their futures together. But most of all, he loved being a father to his daughter, Rosalina, by whom he was affectionately known as "PaPa." The compassion and patience that he exhibited with her was unmatched and she truly was the "apple of his eye." He was admired by many and recognized for his commitment, accomplishments, and sacrifices throughout his life. After completing his active-duty service in the United States Air Force, he started a career as a professional commercial truck driver which allowed him the opportunity to travel around the country. Jalen was a devoted father, brother, son, nephew, husband and friend. He loved his family and will be missed by all whom he touched.
