The Man, The Myth, The Legend
James William Terrell was born on January 17,1929 in Midway Texas to Alex Terrell and Lottie Barrett Terrell. He was the 3rd child and the only boy in the family who they affectionally called "Jr." attended schools in Madison County and HISD. Jr. met and married Gloria Jean Morgan and to this union four children were born Tonia, Tony, Timothy and Tinagene.
Jr. served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged with a host of medals and commendations including the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Stars, Korean Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal to name a few.
After his army service, he began his career in the transportation and taxi business. He drove and owned his taxi for Jacks Cab, Sky Jack, and Square Deal. He loved people and the people loved him. He drove the stars and his regulars who had standing pickups. He drove Beyoncé & Shelia Jackson Lee's children to school many days. He also chauffeured Jackie Wilson and too many more to name.
Jr. was an avid Domino player, and he played the game well whenever and wherever he could. He always knew what you had in your hand and if he didn't, he made you think he did. He hosted weekly domino games with his friends for years. He also loved all genres of music and loved reading. He had the history and the latest information on everyone and everything including "Megan the Stallion".
Jr. was preceded in death by his son Tony, Father Alex, Mother Lottie, and siblings Climmie and Lizzie.
Jr. leaves to cherish his memories his wife Gloria Jean, his children Tonia Williams, Timothy Morgan (Rachel), and Tinagene Terrell. Seven grandchildren Chaddrick Williams, Jhavana Garcia (Felix), Christopher Morgan, Marquis McBride, Bianca Hayes, Tiana Jones (Anthony), Clarence Provost, and Jordan Morgan.
