Jayson
Baldridge
Jul 30, 1999 — Aug 18, 2025
Jayson Samuel Baldridge, affectionately known as "JB," was born on July 30, 1999, in Houston, Texas, to Joe Baldridge and Shari Baldridge-Foster. Growing up in Richmond, Texas, Jayson excelled both in academics and athletics. He participated in multiple sports, soccer, baseball, basketball, football and ultimately found his true passion in Track & Field.
From a young age, Jayson was intentional, inquisitive, and cherished surprises, especially during Christmas. He was known for his infectious smile and generous heart, never meeting a stranger. His interests included cooking, camping, exploring new places, and spending meaningful time with family and friends.
During his time at George Ranch High School (Class of 2017), Jayson earned many athletic accolades: he became the state champion in the 300-meter hurdles and the 4x400 meter relay. He was also part of the 2015 George Ranch 6A State-winning football team. Jayson's commitment to sports and community was evident through his involvement with clubs such as Houston Visions, Sienna Stallions, Greatwood Packers, and the Larry Micheaux Basketball Academy, making lifelong friendships, building character and shaping him to the man ultimately became.
Jayson's determined nature set him on a path to Baylor University, where he earned an athletic scholarship in 2017. During his time there, Jayson was recognized as an All-American in the 400-meter hurdles and relay team and served as captain of the Track & Field team. His ultimate dream was to join the US Olympic Track and Field Team, and in 2021 he was invited to participate in the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon. That same spring, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
Jayson cared deeply for family, friends, and his community, mentoring young athletes and giving back to the organizations that shaped him. In the fall of 2019, he joined the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and later assumed a leadership role. His legacy of service continues to have a lasting impact within the Baylor chapter.
After college, Jayson reconnected with Alexis Thomas, a high school classmate from Richmond, TX. Having known each other since junior high, their bond quickly deepened. Jayson and his "baby girl" dated for two years before marrying on January 3, 2025. They were just starting their journey of life together.
In the fall of 2023, Jayson was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Despite the diagnosis, he remained resolute, always affirming "I am not this disease." He continued to live life to the fullest. He got married, kept working, purchased his dream vehicle (Bernadette the Bronco), traveled the world, cooked great meals, and hosted family gatherings, all with support from his community to maintain an impactful, and faith-driven life.
On August 18, 2025, Jayson passed away peacefully amongst his family. In his honor, a GoFundMe account has been created for additional financial support for his spouse.
Jayson is preceded in death by his father Joe Baldridge, grandmother Dorothy (Buddy) Baldridge, and Grandfather Leo Vernon Baldridge.
He is survived by his wife Alexis Baldridge and her parents Kewon and Carla Thomas; mother Shari Baldridge-Foster; stepfather Daniel Foster; sister Jaylin Baldridge; stepbrother Daniel Foster Jr.; stepsisters Brandy (Foster) Smith, Crystal (Foster) Garza, and their families, grandfather Harold Moore and wife Mary; grandmother Melvina Moore; uncle Tony Moore and his family Sabra, Trevor, and Jeaden; aunt Brandyn (Moore) Rodriguez and her family Danny-Jo (DJ), Sydnee, and Emery; aunt, Carolyn Baldridge and her family Brent, Tanjila, Ashley, and Naomi; aunt Donna (Baldridge) Lacy and her family, Brandon, Brandye and Bryce; uncle, Leo Vernon Baldridge II and his family; and a host of friends and relatives from the Baldridge, Thomas, Moore, Foster, and Yardbourgh-O'Neal families who loved him dearly.
Jayson was beloved for his radiant smile, athleticism, culinary skills, brotherhood and generous spirit. His positive presence touched countless lives.
We love you most, JB.
