John Kenneth Cain, age 95, a beloved figure of Carthage, Texas sadly left our world on January 14, 2025 after a life richly lived in service and kindness. His civic and business contributions included: Mayor for two terms, a founding member of Panola National Bank where he acted as chairman of the Board, developer of seven subdivisions, previous owner of Cain Hardware, and real estate broker. John was a beacon of light and hope in our community touching lives through 70 years of service at Central Baptist Church. There he served as deacon, faithful choir member, bus driver for youth trips and Lay Missions Ministry. He was a founding member of Footprints in the Sand where he was in charge of fund raising. He was an active member of the Lions Club since 1958, and was always ready to help people in their time of need.

John was preceded in death by Janice Burbank Cain, his beloved wife of 70 years; siblings, Nell Ruth Cain Beavers, Robert H. Cain and William M. Cain; as well as granddaughter, Allison Arney. He is survived by his sister, Marie Hallerman; son, Allan Cain and wife, Susan; son, Kraig Cain and wife, Carol; daughter, Susan McMillan and husband, Mitchell; son, Paul Cain and wife, Penny; daughter, Paula Smith and husband, Danny. He was blessed to have 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild.
