Mildred "Sunnie" Rudin (Wilde)'s Story
1940 - 2026
Age 85
Brenham, Texas
Mildred "Sunnie" Rudin, born Mildred Wilde on February 6, 1940, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, in Brenham, Texas. She was 85 years old. Sunnie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was marked by quiet strength, creativity, and deep personal faith. Born in the United States to Marie and Paul Wilde, she carried with her the values of compassion and resilience throughout her life. Though her parents and her beloved son Dennis preceded her in death, their memories remained close to her heart. She is lovingly remembered by her children: John and his wife Cheryl; Robert and his wife Lauren; Thomas; Jerrlyn Stravoski and Renee Williams. Her legacy continues through her 14 grandchildren—John Charles, Gerald, Jessica, Ray, Justin, Desirae, Jack, David, Tiffany, Sandra, Jason, Mason, Mitchell, and Emma—and 22 great-grandchildren who brought joy to her later years. Sunnie dedicated much of her professional life to caring for others through her work at the Brenham State School. Her nurturing spirit touched many lives during her time there until she retired. Her kindness extended beyond the workplace into every aspect of her life. A gifted crafter with a love for crochet and handmade creations, Sunnie found joy in working with her hands. Her home was often filled with the warmth of yarn projects in progress and lovingly crafted items that became treasured keepsakes for those around her. Though she practiced her spirituality privately, Sunnie held strong personal beliefs that guided her daily life. Music played a special role in nurturing that faith—she especially cherished hymns like "I'll Fly Away," which brought comfort and inspiration throughout the years. Her family remembers Sunnie as a woman of quiet grace whose love was steadfast and unconditional.
The words from Colossians 3:15—"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts… And be thankful"—reflect the serenity she carried within herself and shared with others. And as written in 1 John 4:19: "We love because he first loved us," a verse that echoes the foundation upon which she built a life of care and devotion. May Mildred "Sunnie" Rudin's memory brings comfort to all who knew and loved her.
