Minnie Ola Johnson was born on November 1, 1943 in Oakwood,Texas to the late Webb Lawrence and
Lenora Owens. She attended school in Oakwood, Texas.Minnie accepted Christ at a very young age and
united with AME Methodist Church in Oakwood,Texas under the leadership of Pastor E. Lewis.
Minnie later moved to Houston, Texas and was joined in Holy Matrimony with Bill Dean Johnson. She
became a member of Mount Corinth Baptist Church,under the leadership of the late Pastor Albert L.
Patterson. She was a faithful and an active member of the choir and the soul winners action team
(SWAT) until she became ill. Minnie, through out her illness remained faithful in her tithing and
contributed to many charity organizations through mail. She had a heart of giving and she was
benevolent in helping others. Minnie was an excellent speaker in church and she loved crocheting.
Minnie was a Welder by trade for many years. She later retired from Welding and was employed by
Jefferson Davis Hospital in the Infection Control Department for many years. She later retired in 1995
from LBJ Hospital and open her own personal care business known as Minnie's Personal Care Home.
Minnie Personal Care had touched the lives of many elderly people who were in need of housing and
medical care.
On July 9, 2015,Minnie was called home to glory. She was preceded in death by her father Webb
Lawrence;mother Lenora Owens; son, Danny "Humpty"Johnson; sisters Barbara Jean Williams (Albert)
and Diane Israel; two brothers Bennie and Ellis Lawrence and a great friend, Vernon Williams Sr.
Minnie is survived by four loving children;Dewayne Lawrence, Larry Lawrence, Shree Johnson and
Tabatha Johnson. She also leaves to cherish one sister,Mattie Harris, seventeen grandchildren, nine
great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Minnie also leaves to cherish
her memories three very special God sent friends; Lottie Mae White Gill, Velma Buckner and Madura
Jenkins.
Visitation will be at Allen Dave Funeral Home 2103 Cypress Landing Dr. Houston, Texas on Friday July 17, from 6:30 pm til 8:30 pm
