It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt compassion that we announce the passing of Mother Marion Chandler Deckard, who departed this life at the age of 97.

 A cherished mother, matriarch, woman of wisdom, and faithful servant of God, Mother Deckard leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, grace, strength, and unconditional love. Mother Deckard was the beloved mother of Bishop John Ogletree and Bishop Ethan Ogletree, and through her life she exemplified the virtues of a Godly woman whose love and guidance impacted generations. 

Her life reflected the beauty and wisdom found in Proverbs 31, a woman clothed with strength and dignity, whose children rise and call her blessed. "Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.”— Proverbs 31:25-26. Mother Deckard was known for her nurturing spirit, steadfast prayers, gentle wisdom, and compassionate heart. She served her family, church, and community with humility and love, always offering words of encouragement and faith to those around her. 

Her presence was a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those she loved so dearly. As a devoted mother and pillar of strength, she instilled faith, integrity, and perseverance within her family. Her remarkable life of 97 years stands as a testament to God’s grace and favor.
