Patsy Ann Hegemeyer
February 7, 1942 – June 15, 2025
Patsy Ann Hegemeyer, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 15, 2025, in Brenham, Texas.
Born on February 7, 1942, in Bonham, Texas, Patsy was the daughter of T.F. and Mary Kieke Wilks. She was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome, having accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior — a foundation that guided her throughout her life.
Patsy married Melvin Hegemeyer, and together they raised six children. A strong and independent woman, she explored many paths in life, working in various roles including factory work, roofing, and even as a carnival worker. Her adventurous nature, free spirit, and love for people earned her the affectionate description of a "gypsy soul."
She found joy in music, trail rides, fairs, and rodeos — embracing each moment with energy and a vibrant heart. Later in life, she shared many of these simple pleasures with her partner David Smith, who preceded her in death. Together, they enjoyed barbequing, caring for their beloved dogs, and making cherished memories with their children and grandchildren.
Patsy is survived by her children: sons, Larry Hegemeyer and Richard "Dickie" Hegemeyer of Brenham; Jeffery "Cookie" Hegemeyer of Houston; Randy Smith and spouse Danielle of College Station; daughters, Barbara Wolf of Houston; Patty Munoz and spouse Jimmie of Somerville; Stacy Hegemeyer of Brenham
She is also survived by the father of her children, Melvin Hegemeyer of Somerville; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Patsy's life will be honored at a Celebration of Life gathering to be planned at a later date. In accordance with her final plans, she will be cremated, and no formal services will be held at this time.
Patsy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her bold spirit, her laughter, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
