In Loving Memory of Mr. ReChard Collins
August 11, 1970 – June 27, 2026
There are some individuals whose presence is felt long after they have left a room, and whose influence continues long after they have departed this earthly life. Such was the life of Mr. ReChard Collins a devoted son, loyal family member, faithful friend, distinguished educator, proud veteran, dedicated fraternity brother, and passionate sports enthusiast.
Born on August 11, 1970, ReChard lived a life characterized by humility, purpose, and quiet strength. Though soft-spoken by nature, those who knew him best understood that behind his calm demeanor was a warm heart, a sharp wit, and a joyful spirit that could effortlessly become the life of any gathering. His genuine smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering loyalty made everyone around him feel welcomed and valued.
ReChard's journey of learning and personal growth began at Rantoul Township High School, of Rantoul, Illinois, where he graduated with the Class of 1988. Inspired by a passion for education and a desire to make a meaningful difference, he continued his academic pursuits at Jarvis Christian College, in Hawkins Texas. There, he gained a wealth of knowledge, cultivated lifelong friendships, and embraced the principles of leadership, scholarship, and service. It was also during his collegiate years that he became a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, establishing bonds of brotherhood that he would cherish throughout his life.
ReChard proudly served his country in the United States Army, answering the call to duty with honor, integrity, and patriotism. The discipline, commitment, and selfless service he demonstrated while wearing the nation's uniform became hallmarks of the way he lived the rest of his life.
Following his military service, ReChard dedicated himself to shaping future generations as a respected and well-known educator within the Houston Independent School District. He believed education was more than instruction, it was an opportunity to inspire, encourage, and empower young minds. Countless students, colleagues, and families were blessed by his wisdom, patience, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Brotherhood was central to ReChard's life. As a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, he exemplified the fraternity's ideals through service, achievement, and lifelong fellowship. His fraternity brothers became an extension of his family, sharing in celebrations, milestones, and the enduring bond of brotherhood that he cherished deeply.
If there was one thing everyone knew about ReChard, it was his unwavering love for sports especially his beloved Las Vegas Raiders. Whether at home, among friends, or attending a game, you could almost always find him proudly wearing the iconic black and silver. Win or lose, his loyalty to Raider Nation never wavered. His enthusiasm for the game reflected his larger-than-life passion for living and connecting with others.
Above all else, ReChard treasured the people he loved. His family and friends were the heartbeat of his life. He shared his love generously, supported those around him faithfully, and built relationships grounded in kindness, loyalty, and respect. Through simple conversations, quiet encouragement, and genuine acts of compassion, he left an indelible mark etched upon the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Though our hearts grieve his absence, we rejoice in knowing that ReChard's earthly journey has given way to eternal peace. Having faithfully completed his race, he has now reunited with loved ones who preceded him into glory. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Margaruite Farley Collins, whose loving embrace now welcomes him home.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted father, Paul Collins; his loving stepdaughter, Arielle Nelson; his beloved uncles and aunts, Benjamin Collins, Clifford Collins, Hattie Hayward, and Deloyce Cook; his dear cousin, who was more like a sister, Pamela Babino, and her daughter, Kendyl Babino, affectionately known as his favorite little cousin; along with a host of loving relatives, treasured friends, former students and colleagues, and his beloved brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
Although ReChard has transitioned from this earthly realm, the legacy of his service, compassion, brotherhood, laughter, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love was a gift that time can never diminish.
