Sedalia Crawford was born on March 10, 1941 in Huntsville, Texas. Her
parents were the late Byrd and Gatsy Crawford. She was the baby of thirteen
children. Three brothers and eight sisters preceded her in death. She was
affectionately called by many;
"Sweet
", "
Daedee
" and "
Mommo
.
Her father called her "
Sweet Peaches
".
As a young child Sedalia attended Bethel A.M.E. Church in Huntsville,
Texas. In her earlier years in life, she attended Morning Star Missionary
Baptist Church and was baptized under the Leadership of Pastor J.W. Ross.
She served there on the Pastor's Aide Committee and the Nurse's Board.
After many years of service, she continued Worship Services, attending
COGIC Ministries. Later with declining health issues, she had church with
the Sick and Shut in Ministry with Cornerstone Baptist Church under the
Leadership of Pastor S.D. Brown.
She attended grade school under the instruction of Libby Mickels at the
White Oak School. Early in life, she moved to Houston, Texas and worked
part-time jobs. She was married to Nathaniel Fance (deceased) and was a
stay at home Mother. She ventured out in Self-Employed work with her
interest in the Fields of Arts and Crafts. She loved working with ceramics.
Some of her greatest enjoyments came from fishing, painting, playing
dominoes, sewing and working puzzles. Her greatest joy was in seeing
family and friends.
She later met and married Thomas L. Dove (deceased).
She was married for 45 years.
She was a member of the OES Twilight Chapter #393. She was an Active
PTA Member at Shadydale Elementary under the Principalship of Ervin
Briggs. She was an all-time favorite in Ms. Lawrence Beall's Room #8…and
as Ms. Beall would say,
"We had Bluebell ice cream
."
Sedalia also served as a Voting Clerk at Precinct #151 under Leman Hines.
She participated in Political Campaigns and Elections.
Sedalia leaves a lifetime of memories to be cherished.
