Jack-Carlton
May 26, 1981 — Jan 20, 2026
On May 26, 1981, a daughter was born to Hope and Arlene Jack whom they
named Tonye Hope Jack in Miami, FL.
Tonye graduated from Miami Carol City Senior High School in Miami FL.
Later, Tonye would attend and graduate from Florida State University in
Tallahassee, FL. It was before her graduation she would meet Eric Carlton.
After two years of dating, Tonye and Eric were married on November 13,
2000. They were happily married for 25 years and together a total of 27
years, until her passing on January 20, 2026.
Tonye began her career in education as a teacher. She was always versatile
teaching all grades from kindergarten to 12th Grade. She taught in both
public and private schools and always made a positive impact on her
students. She took a break from teaching and became a Regional Manager
for Pearson, honing her leadership skills.
She would return to the field of education as an administrator and graduate
from Prairie View A&M University earning her master's degree to put her
on the path of becoming a principal.
Tonye could light up a room with her unapologetic confidence and sense of
style that was all her own. She loved singing, dancing, being the best
dressed in the room and expressing herself creatively. She won awards for
writing poetry early in her life. All of this came after her unwavering
Christian faith and belief in Jesus Christ.
